New St Martin Express ski lift on track for this winter

The latest update from The 3 Valleys is that construction of the new St Martin Express is set to be completed ready for the ski season | Ski Olympic News

The latest update from The Three Valleys is that construction of the new St Martin Express is on track and should be completed ready for the upcoming ski season.

Within St Martin de Belleville resort, the old St Martin 2 lift was ready for replacement. There have been delays for skiers on the lift over the last few seasons, resulting in a frustrating loss of ski time. The new lift will be a welcome addition to the 2015/2016 ski season, and is sure to be popular with those wanting to explore more of The Three Valleys from our catered chalets in Meribel, Courchevel and other resorts.

The new lift will be a six-person high-speed chairlift with bubble, and will have the ability to carry 3,200 people per hour. So we can look forward to a little bit of protection from the chilly winds as well as a quick ascension – excellent.

Reports on the ground say that the new building for the St Martin Express is very large and the location is pretty much in the exact same position as before. Skiers and snowboarders will have to cross the piste to get from the St Martin 1 lift to the new St Martin Express.

Three new lifts set to open in The Three Valleys

As well as the St Martin Express, it is hoped that two more ski lifts will open for the upcoming ski season.

In Meribel the 6-person high-speed chairlift Combes will replace an old 4-person chairlift, and in Les Menuires the 4-person high-speed chairlift Le Bettex will replace a 2-person fixed-grip chairlift.

With ski resorts in The Three Valleys set to open in just under two months, the excitement is growing in the Ski Olympic office to try out all these new ski lifts and get out into the snow. There are also more updates planned for The Three Valleys that we’re excited about, with completion of everything planned for 2022.
