Graham Bell takes us skiing in Courchevel
Well-known skier turned presenter Graham Bell showed he still has the skills as he takes viewers on a ride down a famous Courchevel run. Kitted out with a camera and microphone, Bell negotiates deep powder and other skiers as he comes down the Grand Couloir.
The producers of the film for The Telegraph insist there are no tricks in Bell’s video, and point to him being out of breath as proof of how challenging the Grand Couloir is for skiers.
Watch Bell’s run here:
The Grand Couloir is ungroomed, but is still considered a piste thanks to regular ski patrols and avalanche protection. During his run, Bell talks about the wide open spaces, the nearby rock faces, and the popularity of the run with visitors. He also talks about the importance of trying to “ski well” because people will watch you as you come down.
Courchevel is one of the world’s best known ski resorts. It mixes great skiing and snowboarding for seasoned athletes with great resources for beginners, with lessons and more the perfect way to get into the sport. In a separate video, Bell takes us along on the Combe de La Saulire. Bell calls the run “one of the best red runs in the Alps”.
The Telegraph has been asking Bell – the presenter of Ski Sunday – to show viewers some of the best-known pistes in France. In addition to the Courchevel runs, in the video series, Bell has taken his camera along with him whilst skiing La Face in Val d’Isère and La Rochu in La Plagne.
The video series, available on YouTube is an excellent primer for those looking forward to any exciting ski holiday in France this upcoming winter. There is other video content from Telegraph Ski and Snowboard on their channel as well, check it out!
