Skiers hoping to extend this year’s winter season in the French Alps have gotten a huge boost thanks to late falling and much-appreciated snow. Ski resorts in the region are now hoping to extend the season to the end of April and maybe beyond.

For those looking for a last-minute holiday and a great adventure on the slopes, ski chalets in Meribel,, Les Arcs and other hot spots are still available for booking this month. They are the perfect way to enjoy what locals are saying has been the best ski season in the last 50 years.

According to The Telegraph, the French Alps received another half metre of snow last week. Weather forecasters expect the snow to continue this week as well. Some locations have been spoiled with snow over the last few weeks. In French ski areas such as Tignes, Val d’Isere, Les Deux Alpes, Chamonix and others, there is more than three metres of snow on the slopes.

Spring skiing can be a unique experience. Air temperatures and the effects of the sun can change ski conditions over the course of the day, but enthusiasts love the laid-back nature of spring skiing. Longer days mean more skiing and, often, the opportunity to ski in just a t-shirt.

Because the warm sunshine in early spring can affect ski conditions quickly, experts are urging last-minute skiers to focus on the resorts and pistes in the higher elevations. According to travel experts, charter flights into the region are heading into their final two weeks. If you would like, you can still shop around travel sites for the cheapest airfare, or think about hiring a car.

Here at Ski Olympic, we offer the best in holiday ski chalets that are all perfect to keep you in the snow and enjoying as much skiing and snowboarding as you can handle. We have properties available in Meribel, Courchevel, La Rosiere, and other locations in France.
