30 Days of Snowsport is the perfect primer for winter ski holidays
For the third year, UK-based snowsport facilities are looking to help British skiers and snowboarders by offering a month of incentives for people to get into the sports. It is the perfect opportunity to develop your skills prior to heading off to enjoy a winter holiday at a ski chalet in France.
30 Days of Snowsport gives people plenty of chances to get introduced to the sport. From 24 September until 23 October, there will be 25 special events being hosted at 19 slopes and facilities. In total, organisers expect almost 70 free or discounted tasters and sessions to take place all over the country.
“30 Days of Snowsport is a great idea to get people up, about and active,” said Steve Lawless, Chairman of Kendal Snowsports Club in Cumbria in a media statement. “At Kendal, we are fully inclusive and welcome anyone young or not so young to take up skiing and snowboarding.
“Our Open Day, which is running during the 30 Days of Snowsport campaign, is aimed at getting as many of our local community hooked on snowsports, and then keeping them hooked by offering on-going taster sessions,” Lawless continued.
Highlights of the event include:
• Kendal Sportsclub – 18 September
• Sunderland Sports Complex – 25 September and 10-16 October
• Pendle Ski Club – 4 October
• Ski Kidsgrove – 8 October
“This is a great way to help raise the profile of our facilities in Sunderland and get members of the community engaged in snowsport,” said Dean Randall, general manager at the Sunderland facility. “It’s an exciting time for us with the refurbishment just round the corner so hopefully this will be a chance for people to see how great a facility we have and hopefully getting more people trying skiing and snowboarding.”
The event is supported by sponsor Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports. They specialise in all the equipment you need to enjoy your snow and mountain adventures.
As well as taster sessions, the month promises the chance for open days, races, a variety of competitions and a number of exciting, freestyle events at the facilities. Most events are family-friendly and are open to all ages. There are also plenty of chances for seasoned veterans and experienced snowsport athletes to enjoy as well.
For many British skiers, snowboarders, and freestyle athletes, 30 Days of Snowsport has become an important part of the UK calendar. Just before European snows start falling, it has become the best way to get the chance to have a go at skiing and snowboarding beforehand.
