Summer season begins in Courchevel

The summer season is officially underway in the mountain resort of Courchevel | Ski Olympic News

The summer season is officially underway in the mountain resort of Courchevel, offering a raft of activities which are a world away from those you would experience during your fully catered ski chalet breaks in the winter months.

Offering a wide variety of walking routes in the place of world class skiing slopes, it looks like a completely different resort and it’s a welcome change for people to take to the mountain in shorts and t-shirt rather than full winter apparel. Although the sunshine makes the temperatures very warm, they are liable to change very quickly due to the high altitude so be sure to pack some extra clothes.

The lift system across the resort is also in full working order, with the Verdons lift open from 9.30am-4.45pm and the Sailure from 9.30am-4.40pm. You can find details on all of the lift opening dates by clicking here.

If you are looking forward to exploring the mountain paths, we recommend picking up a map for both walking and mountain bike trails. One thing to bear in mind is that the slopes are still graded in the same manner as skiing slopes – so the black trails will provide the greatest challenge for walkers and bikers.

3 Valleys Addict Tour just one of the events on offer

The 3 Valleys Addict Tour is taking place in Courchevel over the weekend, a mountain biking extravaganza where everyone from beginners to experienced riders can enjoy timed descent on segments of 7km or 5.1km. Just one of the countless events taking place across the mountain in the months ahead, it’s easy to see why the region is so popular for recreational activities during the summer months.

If you have already booked your family ski getaways in Meribel, La Plagne or Courchevel for the upcoming snow season, you can rest assured that the snows will have returned to the slopes by the time you have arrived!
