A brand new action sports film has been released today, one which stars some of the biggest names from the world of skiing.

A production which is sure to get you excited about your upcoming skiing getaways in Meribel in the months ahead, The Search for Freedom offers pure action from start to finish. It offers not only skiing action, but also professionals from the world of skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding.

Lasting 92 minutes in total, the film explores how activities which perhaps started as niche experiences have now been accepted as part of mainstream culture – with good examples including freeskiing and heliskiing. Written and directed by Jon Long and funded by Universal Pictures, it is a story centred on the human desire to live in the moment and do whatever it takes to help you feel in the moment.

Featuring the biggest talents in skiing

Among the incredible snowsports talent featuring in the documentary are 12-year-old superstar Cody LaPlante, snowboarding superstar Annie Boulanger and the late Shane McConkey – a freeskier and base ski pioneer who is renowned as the most influential skier of all time. Also featuring in the film is Warren Miller, the legendary director who has been the brains behind some of the most famous ski and snowboard films ever produced.

The film has been reviewed in this article by The Telegraph, in which writer Helen Coffer says: “Part adrenalin-fuelled rollercoaster ride, part heartfelt love letter, The Search for Freedom appealingly tells the story of extreme sports from their most humble of beginnings. But be warned – it’ll set you itching to get back to the mountains…”

If you have already booked your French ski chalet holiday and it feels like the winter is still too far away, you’re sure to get excited once again by checking out the trailer below. The film has now been released and will soon be ready to purchase – whether physical or via a digital copy – from the movie’s official website.
